Poker Tournament Strategies - Do They Work?
There are plenty of UK poker tournament strategies running around the internet. While mostly well intentioned, there is quite a bit of misinformation out there about what works and what doesn't when it comes to strategies revolving around playing in online poker tournaments. Some of the strategies do nothing one way or another while others can actually cause a player to lose more money. There are strategies that do work but most are situational in nature and cannot be relied on all the time. Some of the top strategies that are discussed, from poker forums to UK online bingo sites, are below with their pros and cons.
Strategy One: The Bully
One of the most commonly discussed strategies is the bully strategy. For the player who has accumulated some winnings and has knocked out a player or two, this strategy can work well to keep other players at bay and to dominate the remainder of the game. The strategy is to simply bet large when other players are on the brink of being out of chips. This forces them to either go all-in or fold on each hand. Discussions on forums and in online bingo chats mostly circle around how this can easily backfire and while it is sometimes effective, the results of it not working change the game quite a bit. If a player does go all in, they've risked much less than the others to play the hand and depending on the poker table's rules, could win the entire purse with none of the winnings going back to the other players. Should they win, they have enough chips to easily continue playing, making the game go longer than simply playing the game efficiently would have.Strategy Two: Minimal Bets
The other extreme of betting strategies is equally as perturbing for most poker players. These players never raise and always call and bet just enough on the hands they are sure of to survive. They never win big on their own but they will call many rounds of raised hands and because they are so cautious are actually likely to win. They often fold before the first round of betting begins and are not very fun to play against. The discussions about these players on poker and online bingo chats always commend these players for their discipline but all dislike the strategy. On top of disliking it, these players rarely win tournament brackets because they simply don't take risks when the time is right to do so. They do well until it is one on one and only the true masters of poker, not the masters of a strategy, know to crank up the heat and start being aggressive. There are plenty of other poker betting strategies out there. Reading about them on a website is one thing but someone looking for a good one should hit forums, chat boards and even UK online bingo chats to get other people's opinions about what works and what doesn't and most importantly when to use these strategies.
